THCA In Illinois | Buy THCA In Illinois

THCA is getting loads of attention nowadays, and so it’s no wonder why so many Illinoisans are ready to learn what all of the hype is all about.  But, as many of us know quite well, cannabis laws for both hemp and marijuana can be pretty confusing, not to mention the fact that they change frequently, meaning that there are lots of Illinois residents who are unsure if they can even enjoy THCA without breaking the law.

As many of us know that hemp laws in particular have changed so much in the past year on a state level, we want to clarify where THCA stands according to Illinoi law.  Not only that, but every hemp consumer needs to know what types of retailers are more likely than others to deliver fresh, authentic, high-quality, and effective THCA, to guarantee maximum satisfaction.

What is THCA?

THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is THC’s precursor, naturally found in raw cannabis flower, that becomes delta 9 when it’s heated.  This is why you’ll almost exclusively find THCA in the forms of vapes, flower, and concentrates – all products that require heating in order to be used, so that the person is actually consuming delta 9 THC when they use the THCA product.

Before we explore Illinois’s laws regarding THCA, you’re probably wondering: Is it even legal federally?  The answer, which might be surprising, is yes.  THCA is a federally legal product because it completely complies with the 2018 Farm Bill.  This piece of legislation effectively legalized all hemp-derived products, as long as they are shown through third-party lab-testing to contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC.  Because THCA is an entirely different cannabinoid from delta 9 THC, all THCA products are clearly legal, without any limits on their concentration, how much may be purchased or how much a person can possess at any given time.

Illinois does follow the 2018 Farm Bill, and so they are not one of the number of states that have banned THCA.  As is the case with the Farm Bill, Illinois law does not restrict how much a person can buy, how much they can possess, or how strong the product is allowed to be in terms of its THCA content.  This is good news, of course, as it means that you can enjoy this product as much as you’d like, without having to worry about breaking the law in the process.

In March of 2022, the Illinois Department of Agriculture released a guidance that manufacturers could not create THC cannabinoids like THCA synthetically through isomerization of CBD (rearranging CBD’s molecular structure to convert it into THCA, which is how most THCA is made).  However, this is not an actual law, and so this guidance is largely going ignored.

The ultimate reason for THCA’s legality is the fact that the state does not follow the “total THC” rule that some states have employed.  Basically, some states do not permit sales of products containing more than 0.3% of any THC cannabinoid, including THCA.  Illinois is not one of the states that follows this rule, and so they do allow unlimited amounts of THC cannabinoids other than delta 9 (in hemp-derived products).

So, what about marijuana, which remains a federally illegal substance, unlike hemp?  In Illinois, both recreational and medical marijuana use are completely legal.  As of January 1, 2020, anyone 21 or older can buy marijuana from a state-licensed dispensary without requiring a medical card.  One thing that is not legal in the state is home delivery – in other words, local businesses delivering cannabis to a resident’s home.

Residents who are 21 or older may possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of cannabis concentrate, or 500mg of THC-infused products such as edibles or oils.  Any adult who is visiting the state may legally possess half of those amounts.  Possessing beyond these limits is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail, and a $2,500 fine.

Medical marijuana was legalized in 2013, and this law took effect in 2014.  Patients who qualify, and many do as the qualification list is quite extensive, can purchase marijuana at a state-licensed medical dispensary, and patients may purchase up to 2.5 ounces every 2 weeks.

Where Can You Buy THCA in Illinois?

Now, let’s focus again on THCA.  Where can a resident of Illinois actually find THCA so that they can buy it for themselves?  As a matter of fact, there are a few different types of retailers that are particularly likely to have THCA in their inventory, and as you’re about to see, some of them are more worth your time and trust than others.  In fact, some of them should be avoided altogether.

#1: Online Retailers

Online retailers are always the preferred option, not just for THCA, but for any hemp product.  Ask any hemp enthusiast and they’ll almost definitely agree.  Online hemp retailers have dedicated the entirety of their business to selling just hemp products, and so they have to really make sure that they’re carrying the best of the best in order to be competitive.  This is better than buying from a store that specializes in an entirely different industry, as there is less incentive to carry top-shelf THCA flower.

At Bloomz, we guarantee only the freshest and highest-quality THCA flower on the market – after all, that’s what we specialize in, exclusively.  We’re ready to ship our flower to every part of Illinois, including Chicago, Springfield, Champaign, Rockford, Peoria, Joliet, Naperville, Elgin, and more.  Our flower will show up at your home in just a few days, thanks to our extremely fast shipping times.  Besides that, shipping is free, and our THCA prices are competitive since we do all of the work in-house.

We work with organic hemp flower that’s sourced from local farms, and it’s bred to yield high levels of THCA.  You can verify that yourself, since we make our third-party lab reports easily accessible.  Meanwhile, you can choose from some of the most in-demand cannabis strains on today’s market, while knowing that you’re getting a super-fresh THCA product thanks to our high turnover rate.

Of course, buying your THCA flower from Bloomz also treats you to a more convenient way to shop.  You don’t need to step foot outside your home to enjoy the luxury of premium flower, as you can just place your order with us online and allow us to send it straight to your home.

#2: Vape Stores

You may have already noticed some vape shops in your area selling THCA.  Going this route is typically hit or miss, as whether or not the THCA is top-quality depends on the business owner’s standards.  Because vape stores don’t specialize in hemp, but vaping products, owners don’t need to sell top-shelf quality, since their business doesn’t depend on it.  And, they may or may not know how to be totally sure that what they’re carrying is the very best options they can get their hands on, as that all depends on how knowledgeable they are when it comes to hemp.

#3: Miscellaneous Local Businesses

Finally, you may come across some THCA while you’re out shopping in your local area.  For example, there are some convenience stores and gas station stores that carry it.  But, we really, really urge you to avoid buying your hemp products from these types of businesses.  It’s just very unlikely that storeowners are motivated to carry top-shelf THCA product, as they’re all about selling product cheap and fast.  Besides that, it’s these types of environments in which THCA products can sit on the shelves for several months, losing all of its fresh flavor and potency, since THCA is not a highly in-demand product in these types of establishments.

What to Look for in a THCA Product

No matter where you decide to buy your THCA from, it’s always crucial that you look out for key indicators of whether or not you’ll end up happy with your purchase.  Not all THCA flower products are equally capable of satisfying your needs, since there are a lot of factors that influence the outcome of your experience.  Here are the four main things to pay attention to before you buy.

  • Lab Reports: Never buy THCA, or any hemp product, without first referring to the third-party lab reports, which a brand should make accessible on their website.  These reports are provided by an unbiased, state-licensed laboratory, and show the purity level of the product, its potency, its cannabinoid and terpene profiles, its compliance with the law, and its safety.  Without these lab reports, it’s hard to know if what you’re getting is actually a high-quality and safe THCA product – or even an authentic one.
  • A Fresh Product: THCA products do have a shelf life.  After that time has passed, the compounds start to degrade due to age, and what this does is dramatically decrease the effectiveness of the product, while making its flavor and aroma stale and weak.  Choose a company that has a high product turnover rate – in other words, makes enough sales so that the THCA never sits on the shelves for long – to ensure you end up with fresh and potent THCA hemp.
  • A Desirable Strain: Of course, you’re going to want to enjoy some “strain-shopping” too.  Different brands and stores offer unique selections of indica, sativa and hybrid strains to explore, and with so many strains available on the market today, there’s no reason to settle for anything less than exactly the type of strain you want in terms of its effects and its terpene profile’s flavor.
  • Organic Hemp: Finally, you really want to stick to buying organic THCA flower – in other words, hemp that was grown using organic methods.  This way, you’re not taking in pesticides and other sketchy environmental toxins into your body each time you take some THCA.

Why it’s Better to Buy Your THCA Online, Instead of In-Person

Like we said earlier, it’s always ideal to buy THCA products, and all hemp products for that matter, from a reputable online retailer instead of an in-person one.  Overall, the online hemp marketplace comes with the promise of a more trustworthy experience to customers, since it’s so incredibly competitive, and since demand is much higher online than it is on a local level.  Basically, hemp retailers have risen to the challenge to satisfy a growing number of THCA fans in a way that local markets have not.

As you’re about to discover, there are plenty of undeniable benefits to buying your THCA from a reputable online store as opposed to a local one.

#1: It’s More Convenient

Obviously, buying your THCA online means more convenience, which we talked about earlier.  It means that you can shop leisurely while lying on your couch, and it also means that you don’t need to spend time hunting down a store in your neighborhood that you hope carries this type of product.  All that you need to do is add to cart, checkout, and know that blissful THCA is on its way to your front door.

#2: You are Likely to Save Money

When you shop for THCA online, you’re likely saving money.  For one thing, online stores have a lower overhead than physical stores, so online stores can charge less, while often offering free shipping to boot.  And, online stores are going to hold lots of sales and special offers on a frequent basis, not to mention allowing you to buy your THCA in bulk, or purchase “bundles” – aka multiple THCA products sold together at a reduced price per unit.

#3: The Product is More Likely to Be Fresh

Online stores are likely to have a much faster product turnover rate thanks to getting way more traffic each day than a local business.  As a result, the THCA flower that leaves the warehouse is far more likely to be perfectly fresh, making it more potent in its effects as well as more flavorful.

#4: The Selection is Likely to be Bigger

Because online retailers typically own or rent warehouses for their inventory, they can carry a bigger selection of THCA than, say, that local vape store that can only fit a couple of products on their shelf.  This allows you to choose from a wider variety of strains, types of formulas, and more.

#5: Quality Standards are Usually Much Higher

With the online hemp market being so competitive and so visible to consumers around the world, online companies have to work very hard to appeal to customers and keep them coming back.  As a result, online brands are just a lot more motivated to provide nothing but the absolute best THCA possible.  So, you’ll benefit by having access to top-shelf hemp when you buy online.

#6: You Can Learn a Lot More About the Product and the Company

Finally, by going with buying your THCA flower online, you’re going to have the ability to learn more about how the product is made, and the unique standards and practices of the company you’re buying from.  It’s always good to know where the hemp was grown, other relevant details that can really tell you a lot about the quality of what you’re getting.

What Does the Future Hold for THCA in the Prairie State?
